Rwanda is blessed with ideal coffee growing conditions that include high altitude, regular rainfall, volcanic soils with good organic structure and an abundance of Bourbon. The stations under the management of the Kopakaki Dutegure cooperative started in 2005, when two small coffee farmer associations came together. They invested in a wet mill in 2007 and are in the process of building a drymill facility. The co-op has sought to create and maintain gender equality and grown to 990 members , of which 585 are female producers.
